Part-Time/Casual Dietary Aides

Currently hiring Part-time Dietary Aides. Days, Evenings, Weekends, Holidays and Call-ins. Minimum hours ranging from 30–37.5 hours biweekly which includes every other weekend and shifts during the week. Must have dietary experience in long term care. Casual Cook

Reporting to the Nutrition Manager and Food Service Supervisor, employees will be responsible for the following: • Abiding by established policies, procedures & standards • Prepare food and nourishments following standardized recipes. Provides for prescribed diets, including variations in texture. • Serves food to our residents. Ensures meals are served on time, at appropriate temperatures and in portion-controlled quantities. • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment / equipment. Set up equipment & supplies for food prep. Monitors quality & quantity of food supplies ordered, proper operation for kitchen equipment & alerts Manager of problems. • Review regular & therapeutic menus. In absence of the Nutrition Manager, decides on menu changes as necessary & ensures changes are recorded following department procedures. • Directs Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures & in serving activities at meal times. • Assumes responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Nutrition Manager and Food Service Supervisor, including staff replacements & service calls for malfunctioning equipment. • Maintains all required records such as menu changes, delivery recipes & temperature checks. • Must be available to work weekends & holidays. Qualifications: Must have at least one of the diploma's listed below • Chef training or culinary management certificate or diploma from a program that meets the requirements of the OLTCH Act, or • Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the requirements of the OLCTH Act, or • Post-secondary diploma in food & nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food & nutrition • Experience in institutional large quantity cooking preferred • Ability to work safety, following established safety practices & procedures • Proven ability to provide directions & lead others within a busy environment pdanyluck@umh.ca
